Who's My Neighbor?  A party held in September, 1998 [Home] - [More Party Pictures]

Jesus Loves the Little Children

One of the chief characteristics of our neighborhood is its growing racial diversity.  We see this as a profound gift of God which lets us as a community of faith experience all the colors of God's creation.  The children who gather in our Sunday School represent all the colors that they sing about:

Red and Yellow, Black and White
All are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Knowing Jesus in the Breaking of Watermelon

In every chapter of the Gospel of Luke it is said that a meal is mentioned in one way or another.  One of the most moving of all those stories is in Luke 24 where the Disciples meet the resurrected Jesus on the road to a village called Emmaus.  They didn't recognize him until they broke bread together.  In the same way, we recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread.  Or sometimes watermelon.
